While he was in elementary school, Dr. Kapers got to visit a dentist’s office as part of a field trip. Watching the dentist work and interact with patients made a lasting impression on him, so much so that he decided to pursue dentistry himself. All these years later, he couldn’t be happier with the path he’s taken, and he hopes to inspire others just like him.
Dr. Kapers obtained both his undergraduate and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees from Indiana University. Despite having left school decades ago, his education has never stopped, and he still completes an average of 100+ hours of advanced courses each year. This allows him to stay on the leading-edge of dental technology, and he’s focused particularly on implant dentistry and sedation dentistry (he’s actually completed training from the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, or DOCS).
Dr. Kapers married his high school sweetheart, Melissa, who has been a part of the Creating Smiles, PC team ever since the doors opened. They have a daughter who is currently in dental school as well as two sons. One plays professional baseball with the Texas Rangers Association, while the other currently plays division-one baseball at Valparaiso University. Dr. Kapers has always had a love for baseball himself and frequently coached his children when they were younger. He hopes to do so again one day!
